With remarkable economy of means, Wu Zuoren captures the gentle charm of the giant pandas. Dark ink defines the characteristic black patches; lighter washes suggest the softness of white fur. Bamboo leaves are sketched with casual elegance against the spacious white ground. A few strokes suffice to convey the pandas' playful innocence — a perfect fusion of Western compositional principles and Eastern ink tradition.
