Connecting the world through cultural exchanges.
China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd. (CAEG) was established in April 2004, with its major subsidiaries, China Performing Arts Agency (CPAA) and China International Exhibition Agency (CIEA), tracing their origins back to 1957 and 1950, respectively. Since joining Bauhinia Culture Group in 2021, CAEG has remained a leading force in China's international cultural exchange. Committed to telling China's stories well and sharing China's voice with the world, it continues to strengthen international communication and expand China's global cultural outreach.
As a state-owned cultural enterprise in China with a global footprint in performance and exhibition businesses, CAEG has cultivated a nationwide market network encompassing international performing arts, art exhibitions, cultural tourism, and theater operations. It has established three regional headquarters — the Southern Headquarters, Southeast Headquarters, and Southwest Headquarters — and wholly-owned subsidiaries in key cities including Hong Kong, Macao, Tianjin, and Xiamen, forming a multi-dimensional operational network that extends across the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao, linking the north and south. Annually, CAEG presents over 5,000 diverse performances, exhibitions, and cultural activities both domestically and internationally, reaching more than 10 million audience members.
The group and its subsidiaries have received multiple prestigious honors, including awards related to the Beijing 2008 Olympics and Paralympics, Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, cultural product export, and cultural industry development, earning a spot among the "Top 30 China Cultural Enterprises" for eight consecutive years since 2009.
Growing our brand globally
The Group has played a leading role in promoting Chinese cultural products overseas. It has successfully established a portfolio of flagship cultural brands, including Splendors of China, Dances in China, Happy Chinese New Year Festival, and Experience China. The Group has also developed internationally recognized exhibition and performance brands, such as the China Pavilion at the Venice Biennale and a China-themed exhibition at the Curitiba Biennial, while organizing large-scale overseas commercial tours by leading national performing arts companies, including the China National Symphony Orchestra, the Shanghai Opera House Symphony Orchestra in the United States, and the Shanghai Ballet in Europe.
Building bridges through arts festivals
CAEG is committed to building bilateral and multilateral cultural exchange platforms. It hosted or co-hosted numerous brand performances and exhibitions, including the Meet in Beijing Arts Festival, the China International Chorus Festival, the China International Youth Festival, Shenzhen ICIF, Art Hong Kong Expo, Hong Kong-Macao Visual Art Biennale, the Jingdezhen International Ceramic Art Biennale and more, attracting tens of thousands of outstanding artists from around the world.
In recent years, the company has actively expanded into the integrated fields of culture, sports, tourism, and technology, planning and producing a series of landmark projects, including the Adora Cruises on-board performances, Qi Baishi Original Works & Art Digital Exhibition, Guangzhou Opera House 5G+VR theater project, the Platinum Figure Skating Gala, and the open-air waterway concert on the Grand Canal in Beijing Municipal Administrative Center. It has also launched the international arts education brand CAEG STAGE+, demonstrating broad prospects for growth and strong innovation vitality.
Innovating content creation
CAEG remains committed to content innovation. Through cross-regional and international collaborations with artists and cultural institutions, it has co-produced a diverse portfolio of productions for audiences at home and abroad, including the multimedia spectacles ERA-Intersection of Time, Shaolin Warriors, Marco Polo, and the Chinese-language productions of Mamma Mia! and Cats. It has introduced original productions of The Phantom of the Opera, The Sound of Music, and The Divine Comedy Musica, and produced the panoramic centennial edition of Turandot. It has also independently produced, adapted, and created a number of outstanding stage works, including A Lifelong Journey, Move-to-Turn into Human Form, River of No Return, and I Am What I Am. Meanwhile, it is accelerating the development of an art collection system and cultural and creative products, systematically planning an integrated full-chain operation model covering production and sales.
Strengthening the CPAA Theatres and Silk Road International League of Theatres
As a pioneer in China's performing arts theater network operations, CAEG's CPAA Theaters currently operates more than 20 directly owned and managed theaters. Leveraging this network, it has established the CPAA Theater Alliance, which brings together 70 member theaters across 27 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities nationwide, as well as the Silk Road International League of Theatres (SRILT), a global platform for cultural exchange. Today, the SRILT comprises 188 member institutions from 48 countries and regions, including 96 overseas members.
Leveraging the CPAA TICKET+ digital intelligence platform, it has achieved an integrated online-to-offline full-chain service system that brings together ticketing, cultural and creative products, and membership plans. The network spans China, with landmark venues including the Guangzhou Opera House and Bay Opera of Shenzhen in the south, the Shunyi Grand Theatre and Beijing TMH CPAA Grand Theatre in the north, the Shanghai Daning Theatre and Dezhou Grand Theatre in the east, and the Gansu Grand Theatre in the west. Together, these venues provide nearly 140,000 seats, host more than 5,000 performances each year, and welcome over 5 million audience members annually.
Rooted in the GBA, growing with the region
To contribute to the development of Hong Kong into an East-meets-West center for international cultural exchange and Macao into a city of performing arts, CAEG has held a series of events including the Chinese Performing Arts Hong Kong Season, Colorful Breeze: Chinese Ethnic Song and Dance Gala and National Art Troupes Performance Season in Macao, Infinite Inspiration GBA Youth Art Competition, Art Hong Kong Expo, the inaugural Drama China International Micro-Drama Festival, the Hong Kong AI International Film Festival and art collection exhibitions touring Hong Kong and Macao. In November 2024, CAEG has established its south headquarters in Shenzhen and southeast headquarters in Xiamen to further improve its business development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and economic zones in the southeastern coastal cities.
