The 2026 "Chinese Performing Arts Hong Kong Season Series" performance season was launched on January 20 with an opening ceremony at the Grand Theatre of Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Following the ceremony, the National Ballet of China captivated the audience with a splendid performance of the classic ballet Giselle, presenting Hong Kong with an artistic feast that elegantly blends Eastern and Western aesthetics.

Guo Liqun, Chairman and General Manager of China Arts and Entertainment Group (CAEG), stated at the opening ceremony that this year's performance season will feature a series of outstanding productions across various art forms, including ballet, drama, dance, and traditional Chinese opera. The lineup includes nationally acclaimed works such as the dance drama Orphan of Zhao by the China National Opera and Dance Drama Theatre, the play Zhang Juzheng by the Beijing People's Art Theatre, and the dance drama Cavalry by the Inner Mongolia Art Theatre. This year's performance season will also make its debut at the newly built East Kowloon Cultural Centre. Through collaborations with local Hong Kong cultural brands, the series will continue to promote the richness of traditional Chinese culture in Hong Kong and support the city's development as a hub for international cultural exchange.

According to the organizers, as the opening production of the 2026 performance season, the successful staging of Giselle has set a high artistic standard for the series of performances to follow. The National Ballet of China continued its run with another original production, the festive ballet The Chinese New Year, scheduled for January 24 and 25, bringing New Year blessings to audiences in Hong Kong.

The "Chinese Performing Arts Hong Kong Season Series" performance season is organized by Bauhinia Culture Group, managed by CAEG, and executed by China Performing Arts Agency.
