CPAA Theatres expanded its presence in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area by signing an agreement Thursday to operate Shenzhen's upcoming International Performing Arts Centre in Futian District.
Set to become a world-class platform for stage performances, cultural innovation, and talent exchange, the new center in the Xiangmi Lake area is scheduled to open in 2027. This 73,000-square-meter complex, located along Shennan Avenue, will house an 1,800-seat main theater and a 600-seat multifunctional hall.
During the signing session, both sides explored operating strategies, emphasizing the introduction of international resources and the incubation of local arts.
Guo Liqun, general manager of China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd, highlighted the strategic vision for the venue. He said that the initiative aims to build a two-way platform of "bringing in and going global" through central-local cooperation, enhancing resource sharing across the GBA where CPAA Theatres already operates venues in Guangzhou, Foshan, and Zhuhai.
Guo added that the center will present both world-class productions and original works featuring Shenzhen characteristics and Chinese elements. The ultimate goal is to establish a strong artistic brand, enhance the city's cultural profile, and support collaboration with leading art troupes from home and abroad.
