'Infinite Inspiration: GBA Youth Art Exhibition' opens in Macao
An art exhibition showcasing works by young artists from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) opened in the M8 Cultural Complex of South China's Macao special administrative region (SAR) on June 27.
Themed "Youth Convergence, Boundless Creativity," the Infinite Inspiration: GBA Youth Art Exhibition is a major event of the 21st China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF). The Macao leg of the special art exhibition will continue with the display of diverse artistic elements in Shenzhen, bring together such concepts as technological empowerment, cross-industry creation and shared culture, and present to local residents a visual feast imbued with pioneering spirit and human warmth.
Since its inception in 2023, the "Infinite Inspiration" art exhibition has become a landmark art exchange platform for youths in the Greater Bay Area. The 2025 GBA tour exhibition has further deepened the integration of design, cultural and artistic resources, showcased 18 groups of award-winning 36artworks in the 2024 GBA Youth Art Competition, and displayed 21 sets of specially-invited artistic products from the Greater Bay Area and universities across the region.
In addition, the 2025 GBA tour exhibition has also brought together selected artworks from the 2025 GBA Youth Art Competition and latest works of young artists from the two SARs, injecting cultural and artistic vitality into the iconic buildings of global cultural heritage and demonstrating youths' creative thinking and artistic expression.
The art exhibition area comprises five parallel venues, which comprehensively highlight the pursuit of innovation and integration from traditional crafts to cutting-edge technologies behind young artists across the Greater Bay Area and unveils the deep connotation of "Infinite Inspiration" from the cross-media perspective. The Exhibition Area for Foshan Wing Chun Innovative Products has combined traditional Chinese martial arts with modern design language, drawn inspiration from Wing Chun, and underscored cultural inheritance and development of intangible cultural heritage. The Photography Artworks Exhibition Area has shown urban landscape and humanistic &cultural scenes in the Greater Bay Area and portrayed a visual dialogue beyond time and space. There are a wide range of handmade artworks in the Cultural Creative Artworks Exhibition Area, bringing art into the daily life and achieving diverse transformation of cultural value. Exhibited artworks in the Audio &VR Experience Area have made an innovative integration between sound arts and space experience, allowed visitors to appreciate unique sound-supported memory of the Greater Bay Area through immersive audio installation, and adopted VR technology in the building of a "boundless" art space and the exploration of future art's possibilities.
The Macao leg is an important component of the 2025 GBA tour exhibition. The M8 Cultural Complex is located in the core area of Macao's historical and cultural district. It is an intersection of cultural and commercial elements with a history of over 400 years old in the SAR, making a sound interpretation of the "boundless" concept with its unique exhibition venue. Visitors can stroll across Macao's historic district on one hand and meet an artistic hall of avant-garde creativity on the other hand, which resonates with the surrounding world heritage sites. This setting allows contemporary art to grow within historical contexts and opens a dialogue between youthful creativity and world heritage.
The art exhibition is jointly held by Shenzhen Qianhai Administration Bureau and the Publicity Department of the Bao'an District Committee of the Communist Party of China under the guidance of the Publicity Department of Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC. It has received financial assistance from Bao'an District Fund for Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs and been implemented by China International Exhibition Agency, a subsidiary of China Arts and Entertainment Group (CAEG).
It is a national strategy to promote the building of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, in which culturally coordinated development plays a vital role. The art exhibition, which is compatible with relevant policies, will facilitate cultural integration, spur the enthusiasm of youths for innovation and cooperation, and strengthen cultural understanding via concrete actions. A representative of the China International Exhibition Agency said that the organization of the art exhibition will further strengthen the art connection and integration across the Greater Bay Area, adding that it will be held in Hong Kong as well to convey the"boundless"artistic philosophy.
