'Year of Turkmen Culture' unveiled in Beijing

The opening event of the "Year of Turkmen Culture" took place in Beijing from July 8 to 9. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, with China Arts and Entertainment Group as the organizer. The event featured a thematic exhibition on "Turkmenistan Culture, Tradition, and Art," a creative gathering celebrating the 300th anniversary of the birth of the renowned Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy, and an evening performance.



On July 8 and 9, the cultural, traditional, and artistic exhibition of the "Year of Turkmen Culture" was held at the Tianqiao Art Center in Beijing. The exhibition showcased a dedicated space for the famous Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy, as well as precious Turkmen jewelry, traditional costumes, hand-woven carpets, and more. Through a diverse display of videos and photography, the rich cultural heritage and colorful ethnic characteristics of Turkmenistan were presented. The exhibition attracted numerous visitors, with Turkmen artists providing live performances, knitting demonstrations, and detailed explanations, offering an immersive experience of Turkmenistan's cultural uniqueness.







The year 2024 marks the grand celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great literary figure, thinker, and national poet Magtymguly Pyragy in Turkmenistan. On July 8, the creative gathering commemorating the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy's birth and the "Year of Magtymguly Pyragy's Wisdom Treasure" was held at the Oriental Hotel in Beijing, bringing together scholars and experts from China and Turkmenistan for exchanges and discussions.




On July 9, the opening ceremony of the "Year of Turkmen Culture" was held at the Tianqiao Art Center in Beijing. The Turkmenistan "Weavers" folk dance troupe and Turkmen artists presented a variety of artistic forms including songs, dances, and literary music pieces such as "Warm Greetings from Turkmenistan, Greetings from the Heroic People's Land!" and traditional Turkmen songs like "The Ring of the Beautiful Girl," as well as Chinese folk songs like "Jasmine." The opening ceremony concluded perfectly with the song and dance performance "Eternal Friendship between China and Turkmenistan," receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience. Over 800 guests, including diplomats from various countries and distinguished guests, enjoyed the spectacular performances.






Culture and art serve as bridges and bonds that unite people and enhance friendships. The hosting of the event in China aims to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, promoting mutual understanding between the peoples of both nations, strengthening cultural and artistic exchanges and cooperation, and contributing to the continuous and healthy development of bilateral relations.
