Beijing Philharmonic Chorus debuts at "Meet in Beijing" International Arts Festival
A "We Are the Successors of Communism" themed concert by the Beijing Philharmonic Chorus was held at the Beijing Concert Hall on March 20.
The Beijing Philharmonic Chorus is the most famous children's chorus in China. More than 60 children and young singers performed in wonderful choral programs.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the State Administration of Radio and Television, the Beijing Municipal People's Government and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics Organizing Committee, and hosted by China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd. (CAEG) and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the International Arts Festival has been held in Beijing annually 20 times since 2000.
This year's arts festival dedicated 42 performances from 24 countries to the audience, 31 online and 11 in-theater. At the same time, six art exhibitions, Winter Olympics-themed cultural events, thematic forums and performance promotion meetings will be held as part of the festival.
From the opening of "Running towards the Sun" to "Songs of Newspapers" and "The Ballad of the Great Wall" the audience was taken back to the 1930s. "Song of the Red Star" and "Sing a Folk Song for the Party" relived the glorious revolutionary years, while "Let's Swing Up" "Double Oars" and "Di Li Di Li" , the most famous children's songs in the new era, were also on offer.
The first half was ordered by time, all the way from the old China in the 1930s to the new era of reform and opening up.
In the second half, folk songs from all over the motherland were presented. The Xinjiang folk song "Dance of Youth" and the Yunnan folk tune "Sani Juvenile Jumping to the Moon" cheered listeners with their enthusiasm and cheerfulness, and "Jasmine", adapted by Professor Yang Hongnian, proved uniquely suitable for children’s voices.
A performance of "We Are the Successors of Communism" served as the finale, highlighting the theme of the show.
