Sichuan’s 'Splendid China' wins warm applause in Kuwait
The art show "Splendid China" presented by the Sichuan Vocational College of Art of China, the only foreign troupe invited to the ongoing 29th Future Generations Festival in Kuwait, won warm applause on the evening of March 13.
Two performances were staged on March 13 and 14 and were enjoyed by over 1,000 people. Traditional Chinese arts such as the Sichuan Opera's face-changing, folk music ensembles, fun magic, straw hat acrobatics and diabolo were well received. After the shows, many enthusiastic members of the audience ran to the stage to take photos with the actors.
Zhu Xi, director of the cultural office of the Chinese Embassy to Kuwait, expressed his hope that the shows will promote exchanges and mutual understanding between the two countries.

Aysha Adnan al Mahmoud, director of the Department of Culture of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) of Kuwait, said that the Sichuan Vocational College of Art of China was the only foreign troupe invited to the 29th Future Generations Festival in Kuwait. She hopes that Kuwaitis can learn about Chinese arts and culture through the shows.
Sfawy Fatima, a Kuwaiti girl who rushed to take pictures with Chinese performers, said: "It’s my first time to experience the charm of the traditional Chinese folk arts. I wish I could go to China to see more of them."
Officials from the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait and NCCAL attended the performances.
